5. Bears Romp Carolina in Battle of Shitty QB’s

It was like a Pop Warner game in a blizzard – neither team could throw the ball.  Except it was gorgeous out and there were highly-paid players tasked with doing just that.  I think this game would have been better if they had made it a “Let the Fans Play QB Day.”  They could have called out a seat number, let that fan run down the stands to the field (much like the audience does on The Price Is Right), suit ‘em up and let ‘er rip.

Regardless, the Bears once again found a way to come out ahead.  We bounced back after an embarrassing loss last weak by handily beating the Steve Smith-less Carolina Steve Smiths.  Granted, Carolina is probably the worst team in the NFC, but we did show some resilience in coming out strong and ending this game early.

Playing without a QB this week, the Bears were limited to the running game, which worked out fairly well – at least in the first quarter.  But man do we need Cutler back.  The defense was once again stellar, holding the Panther’s collegiate-caliber offense under 150 net yards.  We had 5 sacks to go with 3 picks, holding Carolina to 4 plays or less, and single digit yardage, on 10 of their 15 drives.

Why The Hell Did We Sign Todd Collins?
Arguably the worst QB in Bear history – and that’s saying A LOT – Tom Collins followed up last week’s 8.1 QBR (4-11, 36 yards, 1 INT) with a whopping 6.3 (6-16, 32 yards, 4 INT’s) on Sunday.  Hey, if we wanted someone to throw 4 picks, we’d play the concussed Cutler – he could even throw with his left hand.  Come on, man!

Game Ball
Matt Forte ran for a career-high 166 yards (including a 68-yarder) and 2 TD’s – his and the team’s first 2 rushing TD’s of the year.

Summary
The Bears move to 4-1, and with GB losing, are alone in first place.  Are we awesome right now?  Absolutely not.  But we’ve got Seattle and Washington coming to town before our bye week.  I stand by my previous comments that we should win both of these games, but Seattle should definitely be a gimme.

If we were looking for a QB with a single digit rating, couldn’t we have just brought Rex back?

mom, i believe mcmahon is still alive. i hope they put him out to stud – that guy should be a baby-qb-making machine!

donnie g, i’d prefer the 60-something vince evans to cade mcnown in his prime. wait, did he have a prime?

bear down all, and thanks for your comments!
