8. Bears Win Last Game Before Starting 8-Game Losing Streak

Despite playing north of the US border, the Bears “hung on” to win against the only remaining winless team in the NFL, the now 0-8 Bills.  If we had performed like this against a good team, I’d be impressed.  But against a team whose last win came on Jan. 3, there’s not much to celebrate – other than the fact that we picked up our first W in four weeks, and that we’re now 5-3 instead of 4-4.

The latest concoction of our Offensive Line played pretty well – well, at least for them.  The Butler was only sacked once, and did a pretty good job rolling out and moving around in the pocket, throwing 2 TD’s.  He also didn’t throw any picks (though there were a few that could easily have been intercepted), but he did lose a fumble.  We ran for over 100 yards, but 40 of that was on QB scrambles.  I’m guessing this O Line – and our running and passing game – still gets eaten up by a decent team.

The defense was solid, nabbing 3 turnovers and holding Buffalo to 46 yards rushing.  Though we allowed 31 completions for 300 yards, 6 completions for 63 yards came against our prevent D when we were protecting a lead.  Not bad against a pass-capable offense that threw 51 passes.

We also blocked an extra point (Idonije).  It was Bills kicker Rian Lindell’s first ever missed PAT after 321 straight – the fourth longest streak, and the longest to start a career, in NFL history.  Ha-ha, stupid kickers.

Game Ball
We’re giving this week’s game ball to Lovie because he didn’t make any decisions that cost us the game, and because this will probably be his last victory as the Bears head coach.

Summary
There’s a big difference between being 4-4 and 5-3, but there’s not much difference between being 4-12 and 5-11, which is exactly where the Bears are headed.  Our remaining schedule is tough – Mini twice, the Jets, the Pats, Philly, GB in GB, Miami in Miami, and even Detroit will be a tough road game.  And considering our 2-2 record at home, I just don’t see the Bears realistically winning a single game in the second half.  It could be a loooooong winter, folks.

Could of used the Bears to win last week against the Skins, so my Giants( who are awesome right now) could pull ahead in there division.
