9. Bears Stun Vikings in Chicago, Save Season

In a match-up that would lead to one team’s season ending, the Bears came up big time and not only kept their season alive, but revitalized it.  Despite 11 penalties, we put together a well balanced attack and took down a beast in both Favre and Peterson.  It seems hard to believe at this point in the season, but we haven’t lost in 3 weeks, and are now 3-0 in the division.  And the winning streak now stands at 2!

Special teams were huge.  Seven Hester had 150 yards on 4 returns, and one of those went for no yardage.  He returned kickoffs for the first time all year, and only the second time since opening day last season.  And it certainly helped our field position – we started in Viking territory on half of our drives.

Offensively, we were surprisingly good against a good run defense.  Our O-Line played well, Cutler played well and we ran for over 100 yards (130) – all for the second straight week.  And our efficiency on third downs (11-19) was a vast improvement over any other game we’ve played all year.

The defense was it’s usually stellar self.  Though we didn’t have a sack, we got 3 picks and a fumble recovery.  And we held them to 70 yards rushing (and AP to just 51!), and Minni went only 1-9 on third downs.

Game Ball
This week’s game ball goes to whoever finally decided to let Hester return kickoffs again.  His impact was obvious during the game and in the result.

Summary
We ended Bret Fahrvergnügen’s wenis’s season, and with GB off this week, we moved back into first place.  We go to Miami on Thursday night where we never win at night. So since I doubt we have a chance, I’m going to go ahead and predict a winner.  It’s been a while since we could say this, but….

Super Bowl, Super Bears!
