So much for those 6 TD passes 3 weeks ago. The Troubador had arguably the worst game of his career Sunday, throwing 24 incompletions – half of which could’ve been picked off, and 2 that were. Unless you count him as a RB, in which case he was the best player on the field, rushing for more than twice as many yards as anyone on either team (81 yards on 6 carries). Unfortunately though, he’s paid to throw the ball. And because we drafted him so high, unless he takes a trip to Istanbul and 15 Saudis with a bone saw kidnap him, he’s going to be our QB for at least 42 more games. So we can only hope that this was just an off-day for him.
NE couldn’t stop Truby’s legs, but they really shut down his right arm
The Low Down
Trubisky was bad from the jump. Before our final drive of the 1st half, which lasted exactly 14 seconds, he didn’t complete more than 1 pass on any of our 6 drives. And during that span, he was just 5/17 (29.4%), for 50 yards (2.9/att), and a 39.6 QBR. He finished 26/50 (52.0%), for 333 yards, (6.7/att), 2 TDs, 2 INTs, and a 69.8 QBR, but those stats were padded by his 7 for 8 for 121 yards on the final drives of each half, when the Pats were in a prevent and not covering the middle of the field. So he gets a big fat “F” for the day.
Is someone gonna tell him that that sleeve isn’t good luck anymore?
And our defense was completely MIA. After giving up a season-high 31 points last week, NE dropped 38 on us. Tom Brady, who’s old enough to be el Truberino’s grandfather, threw 14 fewer passes, and completed only 1 less. Though Gisele’s better half only ran for 6 yards, his 3 TD passes earned him a 108.2 QBR – 40 points higher than Truby Tuesday. It didn’t help that the Bears allowed a kickoff return for a TD, and a blocked punt return for a TD. But in the battle of old vs. young QBs, we were beaten like a Washington Post journalist who just got a new Apple Watch.
In between TD passes, Brady pulled several discreet Louis CKs
Doubtlook
Whenever you play Brady, you can’t expect to win – you just take your lumps and hope that you don’t lose anyone to injury. So we all saw this coming, along with the Bears’ drop to 3-3 (as we predicted last week). But Detroit (3-3) won, so they caught up to us. And Minnesota (4-2-1) won, so they passed us up. And GB (3-2-1), who didn’t even play this week, also jumped ahead of us. So it was a banner day all around, as the Bears went from first to worst, and fell back to our lowest position since we blew game 1 in GB. Yeah, shit just got real.
Brady to Trubes: “My son said he had a class with you in college.”
But considering we were supposed to get destroyed, it was actually pretty close (38-31). And the next 6 weeks is where the Bears’ schedule is most favorable. We could hit our stride and start chalking up some serious Ws, so I’m still optimistic about our season. Unless we lose next week, then we’re completely screwed. We’ll be out of it this year, and the draft won’t help next year because we don’t have any draft picks left. So next week is as much of a must-win as the Bears have had in about 5 years. Man, this October sucks!
The Bears’ season just got flipped, turned upside-down
Quotes of Note
Matt “I Refuse To Admit That Mitch Stinks” Nagy: “He was using his legs…(blah blah blah)…using his legs…(blah blah blah)…using his legs…(blah blah blah)…He had a good game today.” ~ If he was a RB, yes, he had a good game. But as a QB, Nagy’s either lying to us, himself, or both.
Does Nagy also think Special Teams “had a good game?”
The Biscuit, when asked if he played a good game: “I’m gonna have to watch the film to see if I played well or not. Right now it just feels like we lost, which we did.” ~ That answer might be the worst thing he did all day. And I’ll answer that one for him: No, he stunk!
Apparently, he gives his performance 2 thumbs up
Trubisky: “I felt like I left some completions out there.” ~ Yeah, some completions to the Pats!
Jesus H, that’s the 2nd week in a row that we’ve been out-prayed!
Kevin “Draft Bust Personified” White: “I’ve never been a backup in my life.” Really? REALLY?! You’ve been a backup for the last 4 years, bro. And next year you’ll be unemployed.
Nike even has the cameramen taking knees now?!
BEAR DOWN!
